About the print

He stopped the car and ran across a live circuit. In practice at Spa-Francorchamps in 1992, Erik Comas crashed heavily at Blanchimont and was left unconscious with his foot still on the throttle and the engine at full revs.

Senna was the next man round. He parked his McLaren on the racing line, climbed out, and ran to the wreck with cars still coming. He switched off Comas's engine, held his head straight and kept his airway clear until the medical team arrived.

Then he walked back to the pits and did not go out again that day. He rarely spoke about it. Comas has spoken about it ever since.

Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
