Babe Ruth Called Shot Art Print, Wrigley Field 1932, Vintage Baseball Wall Art

About the print

Game three. In the fifth inning, with the count level and the Chicago bench abusing him from the dugout, Babe Ruth raised his arm and pointed at something.

On the next pitch he hit the ball over the centre field wall, the longest home run seen at Wrigley Field. Charlie Root, the pitcher, denied for the rest of his life that anyone had called anything. Ruth's own account changed depending on who was asking.

Two amateur films of the moment exist and neither settles it. The Yankees won the series four games to nothing, and the argument has run for ninety years.

Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
