Bobby Jones Art Print, One Stroke, US Open 1925, Vintage Black and White Wall Art
€44.90
About the print
One stroke, called on himself. In the first round of the 1925 US Open, Bobby Jones addressed his ball in the rough and it moved very slightly. No official saw it. No spectator saw it. No opponent saw it.
He called the penalty on himself. That single stroke put him into a play-off, which he lost by one shot.
When the press tried to turn him into a model of sportsmanship he refused it flatly, saying they might as well praise a man for not robbing banks. He did the same thing again the following year.
Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
