Borg McEnroe Art Print, Wimbledon 1980, Vintage Black and White Tennis Wall Art
€44.90
About the print
Eighteen points to sixteen. The fourth set tiebreak of the 1980 Wimbledon final lasted twenty-two minutes. Borg had five championship points in it and McEnroe saved all five. McEnroe had six set points and Borg saved six.
When McEnroe finally took it the crowd stood for several minutes, and everybody in the stadium assumed the match had turned.
Borg then won the fifth set eight games to six without losing a point on his first serve. It was his fifth consecutive Wimbledon. He lost to McEnroe there the next year, and retired at twenty-six.
Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
