About the print
Not one timeout, in eight games. They won by an average of forty-four points and Chuck Daly never needed to stop the clock.
Opposing players photographed them during the games. The Angolan side, beaten by sixty-eight, asked for pictures at the end. It was the first Olympics open to National Basketball Association professionals and eleven of the twelve are in the Hall of Fame.
The interesting part is not that they won. It is that a tournament designed to be a contest became, for two weeks, an exhibition that the losing teams enjoyed as much as anybody.
Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
