About the print

2-1. Iceland had a population of about three hundred and thirty thousand and had never qualified for a major tournament.

At their first they came out of a group containing Portugal, and in the round of sixteen at Nice they played England. Iceland went behind to a penalty in the fourth minute, equalised two minutes later from a long throw, and scored again in the eighteenth.

England's manager resigned that night. Iceland lost to the hosts France in the quarter-final. Heimir Hallgrimsson, who shared the job of coaching them, was a practising dentist and kept the practice.

Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
