About the print
Once. Kaiserslautern were relegated from the Bundesliga in 1996, for the first time in the club's history. They came straight back up, and in their first season back they won the league.
They opened by beating the reigning champions Bayern Munich one nil in Munich, took first place on the fourth matchday and never gave it up. Otto Rehhagel was the manager, sacked by Bayern eighteen months earlier. A twenty one year old Michael Ballack was in the squad.
No promoted club has won the Bundesliga before or since.
Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
