About the print
1958. The winter New York lost two of its three teams.
The Giants played at the Polo Grounds, under Coogan's Bluff, for the whole of their time in the city, and produced two of the most replayed moments in the sport. In 1951 Bobby Thomson hit the home run that won the pennant off Ralph Branca, still called the shot heard round the world. In 1954 Willie Mays ran with his back to the plate and caught a ball over his shoulder in the World Series.
Three years later the club was moved to San Francisco, in the same winter that Brooklyn was moved to Los Angeles.
Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
