About the print

23 seasons. In Quebec City, without a championship.

In their last years the Nordiques had built one of the best young squads in the league, with Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg. In May 1995 the provincial government declined to fund the club and the franchise was sold to a group in Denver.

The following season, as the Colorado Avalanche, the same team won the Stanley Cup, sweeping Florida in the final. It was the first relocated franchise in the league to win a title in its first season in a new city. Quebec has not had a team since.

Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
