About the print

Three wins and two seconds, from five runs. He was diagnosed with pedal osteitis, a bone condition in the foot that should have ended his career, and was trained on the beach at Southport in the salt water of the Irish Sea.

Between 1973 and 1977 Red Rum ran the Grand National five times and finished first, first, second, second and first. Nobody else has won it three times.

In 1973 he came from thirty lengths back to catch Crisp on the run-in, in the fastest time the race had ever been run. He never fell at Aintree, over thirty fences a lap, five years running.

Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
