About the print

Seventeen seasons, one shirt. Sandro Mazzola played for Inter from 1960 to 1977 and never for anyone else: four league titles, two European Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, and two goals in the 1964 European Cup final against Real Madrid in Vienna.

He was six when his father died. Valentino Mazzola was the captain of the Grande Torino, lost with the whole team at Superga in 1949. The son grew up carrying the most famous name in Italian football, and made it his own at the other great side of the century.

With Italy he won the 1968 European Championship and played the whole of the 1970 World Cup final. He was runner-up for the Ballon d'Or in 1971, behind Johan Cruyff. He died in September 2026, aged eighty three.
