About the print
The 30th minute. The 2002 World Cup opened with France, the holders and European champions, against Senegal, who had never qualified for one before.
Papa Bouba Diop turned in a loose ball after Petit and Barthez left it to each other, then took his shirt off and danced round it with the substitutes.
France went out in the group stage without scoring a goal. Senegal beat Sweden in extra time and reached the quarter-final, where Turkey ended it with a golden goal.
Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
