Thrilla in Manila Art Print, Ali Frazier 1975, Vintage Black and White Boxing Wall Art
€44.90
About the print
Fourteen rounds of a fight scheduled for fifteen. The temperature inside the arena was reported above one hundred degrees. By the twelfth round Joe Frazier could barely see. By the thirteenth Muhammad Ali had told his corner he wanted it stopped.
Eddie Futch, Frazier's trainer, stopped it first, against his fighter's furious objection, saying nobody would forget what he had done.
Ali described it afterwards as the closest thing to dying that he knew of. Neither man was the same fighter again, and neither ever fully forgave the other.
Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
