About the print

78.6 per cent. Villanova were an eighth seed and had lost to Georgetown twice already that season. Georgetown were the defending champions and had Patrick Ewing.

There was no shot clock and no three point line, so Villanova held the ball and took only the shots they were sure of. They made twenty two of twenty eight attempts, the highest shooting percentage in the history of the Final Four, and after halftime they missed once in ten.

Sixty six to sixty four. Rollie Massimino was the coach and Ed Pinckney was named most outstanding player. No lower seed has won the tournament since.

Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
