About the print

1975. There was a rebel league, the ABA, with a tricolour ball and the three point shot when elsewhere they were considered heresies. And there was a team that ruled it: the Kentucky Colonels of Artis Gilmore and Dan Issel, champions in 1975 and constantly among the best.

When the two leagues merged, in 1976, four teams entered the NBA. The Colonels, among the strongest, were not among them. The owner took a buyout and dissolved everything, and the champions were scattered at auction.

Louisville was left without its team and has never had one again. It was the best team never to enter the NBA: winners without a seat at the table.
