Roger Bannister Art Print, The Four Minute Mile 1954, Vintage Black and White Wall Art
€44.90
About the print
Forty-six days. Doctors and coaches had spent years explaining why a mile under four minutes would kill a man or simply could not be run. On a cold windy evening at Iffley Road, on a cinder track, in front of a few hundred people, Roger Bannister ran it in 3:59.4.
He was a medical student who trained in his lunch hour.
Forty-six days later John Landy ran it faster in Finland, and within three years more than a dozen men had done it. The barrier had never been physical. It had been a sentence people kept repeating until somebody stopped listening.
Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
