About the print

Thirty-four seconds. Canada sent its professionals against the Soviet Union expecting eight straight wins and lost the opening game at home seven to three. By the time the series moved to Moscow they had won once, and had been booed off the ice in Vancouver by their own crowd.

They then won three consecutive games in the Luzhniki. In the last, with the series level and thirty-four seconds remaining, Paul Henderson scored from a rebound in front of Vladislav Tretiak.

Schools across Canada had wheeled televisions into classrooms. The country was, for a few minutes that afternoon, not doing anything else.

Stories worth passing on, not just remembering.
